About Us
The Estate Planning Council of Hampden County, Inc. is organized merely to
provide a forum for current, accurate and authoritative information with regard to
estate and financial planning. Neither the officers nor directors of The
Estate Planning Council of Hampden County, Inc. nor any particular speaker is
engaged in rendering legal, accounting or other professional service. If
legal advice or other expert assistance is required, the services of a competent
professional should be sought.
Our Beginnings
In early 1966, a group of Greater Springfield lawyers, trust officers, life
insurance representatives and accountants joined to form the "Estate
Planning Council of Hampden County." The original roster of
members was comprised of 23 professionals from these five groups.
Council members are life underwriters, trust professionals, lawyers,
accountants and other select financial service providers engaged in the
planning, settlement and management of estates. Expertise is not a criterion for
membership in the Council. Therefore, membership in the council by any member
does not imply expertise.
Objectives of the Council
- To provide Council members with a better understanding of the estate planning, settlement and management services which life insurance professionals, bankers, fiduciaries lawyers, accountants, planned giving professionals, and other select financial service providers can render to the general public.
- To increase the public’s awareness of the facilities and services available to aid individuals in the management, planning and settlement of their estates.
- To promote cooperation between each of the groups above mentioned and to foster a better understanding of the proper relationship which each group bears to the other, to their clients and to the general public.
This site will provide access to articles written by members to inform the
reader of various issues in the estate and financial planning areas. All
