ABOUT THE SPEAKERS

Joanna S. Ballantine is Vice President for Philanthropic Services for the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts. Prior to joining the Community Foundation, Joanna was a Financial Planner with The Davis Financial Group.  Previously, Joanna was Vice President at The Trustees of Reservations whose mission is to preserve—for public use and enjoyment—places of exceptional scenic, historic and ecological value in Massachusetts. Before her career in conservation, Joanna was executive director of The Harold Grinspoon Foundation for over a decade and was instrumental in creating and growing the organization’s signature programs. Joanna has an MSW from the University of Maryland, an MA in Jewish Studies from Baltimore Hebrew University and a BA from Hampshire College. She lives in Amherst, Massachusetts with her husband Clay, has a son Caleb at Skidmore College and is proud of her daughter Hannah, who graduated from Hampshire College.

 

Nigel Greaves is the Director of Development for the Community Foundation of Western Massachusetts. Prior to joining the Community Foundation, Nigel worked as a Project Director for the City of Springfield in the Office of Housing, a Grants Administrator for the YMCA of Greater Hartford, and was a Diversity Fellow for the Nellie Mae Educational Foundation. Nigel was a Partner, Writer and Producer for Straight, No Chaser Productions, and co-directed “The MLK Streets Projects” documentary film. Nigel earned an MBA from the University of Maryland at College Park and a BS from Ithaca College. He lives in Springfield with his wife Keisha L. Green and two young children.
