Estate Planning with Retirement Assets

The presentation will address how to do estate planning with retirement assets to accomplish clients’ goals, including minimizing taxes and creating charitable legacies. The focus will be on the SECURE Act of 2019 and the Treasury’s final regulations issued in July 2024. Practitioners will learn practical tips for drafting and designating beneficiaries, as well as postmortem planning considerations.
About the Speaker

Seunghee Cha is a partner with the law firm Bulkley, Richardson and Gelinas, LLP, with offices in western Massachusetts. She is Chair of both the firm’s Trusts and Estates department and Special Needs Planning practice. Seunghee works with individuals and couples in estate planning and represents fiduciaries and beneficiaries in trust and estate administration. Her work includes intergenerational wealth transfer and charitable planning, with extensive experience planning for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental-health conditions. Seunghee is active in community engagement, currently serving on the board of directors of the Center for Human Development and Community Legal Aid, and the Finance Committee of The Loomis Communities—the oldest continuing care retirement community in New England. She is a past board member of the Estate Planning Council of Hampden County, The United Arc, and NAMI Western Massachusetts.
